EarthRanger Web allows you to control what data is displayed on your map by using filters to focus on specific types of Events. This is especially useful when you need to monitor only relevant activity, such as accidents, poaching incidents, or alerts, without being distracted by unrelated data.
For example, you might want to isolate and review only Events that match a specific event type from the past 24 hours to prioritize response efforts or investigate incident trends.

Note that the same filters will apply to events that are shown in the EarthRanger Event Feed
-
Ensure the Events Layer is Active
Open the Map Layers panel and confirm that the Events layer is toggled on under
Map Layers > Events (the checkbox should be filled or the icon highlighted). This enables Events to be displayed on the map. -
Open the Events Tab
Navigate to the Events tab in the sidebar and click Filters.
From here, you can access various filtering options. -
Select the Filters You Need
Apply filters by Event type, date, or other attributes depending on your operational needs. For example, you can select “Accident” as the type and limit the date range to the last 7 days.
Some common filters:
State: Filter Active Events only (default), Resolved Events only or All Events.
Priority: Filter between different Event priority levels (the default priority for each Event Type can configured, or the priority for an individual Event can be updated later.
Reported by: Filter by an individual associated with the creation of the event (see Understanding ‘Tracked By’ vs ‘Reported By’ in EarthRanger Web)
Event Types: Filter all Event Types (default) or select only specific Event types either by typing into the ‘Search types’ filter field or scrolling the list and deselecting specific Event types

-
Review the Filtered Map
Only the icons for Events that match your filter criteria will be displayed on the map. Active filters will be visually highlighted (usually in blue) in the filter bar to help you keep track of what’s applied.

- Click Reset on an active Filter to remove it, or select Reset All to remove all filters and show all events for the current Date range
