Filter Events on EarthRanger Web

EarthRanger Web allows you to control what data is displayed on your map by using filters to focus on specific types of Events. This is especially useful when you need to monitor only relevant activity, such as accidents, poaching incidents, or alerts, without being distracted by unrelated data.

For example, you might want to isolate and review only accident Events from the past 24 hours to prioritize response efforts or investigate incident trends.

To filter Events that appear in the EarthRanger Web map:

  1. Ensure the Events Layer is Active
Open the Map Layers panel and confirm that the Events layer is toggled on (the checkbox should be filled or the icon highlighted). This enables Events to be displayed on the map.
  2. Open the Events Tab
Navigate to the Events tab in the sidebar. From here, you can access various filtering options.
  3. Select the Filters You Need
Apply filters by Event type, date, or other attributes depending on your operational needs. For example, you can select “Accident” as the type and limit the date range to the last 7 days.
  4. Review the Filtered Map
Only the icons for Events that match your filter criteria will be displayed on the map. Active filters will be visually highlighted (usually in blue) in the filter bar to help you keep track of what’s applied.

Resetting Filters

To return to a full map view:

  • Click on each active Filter and select “Reset All” to remove the selected Event types.
  • Click on the Date Filter and select “Reset” to clear the time range.

This will repopulate the map with all available Events within the current visible map window and settings.
