In Gundi, a Connection represents the flow of data from a physical or virtual device to the software where the data will be analyzed.
Elements of a Connection
A Connection in Gundi consists of several key elements that define how data moves from source to destination:
Provider. The data provider, along with its authentication and configuration settings.
Destinations. One or multiple endpoints where data is pushed, such as EarthRanger sites, SMART Connect CAs, Movebank accounts, or other integrated platforms.
Sources. A list of physical or virtual devices linked to this Connection. These are the actual data-generating entities, such as wildlife collars, weather stations, or data services.
Logs. Connection activity records, including successful transmissions, errors, and changes to the Connection itself.
Status. The current health of the Connection, showing whether data is flowing as expected or if there are issues requiring attention.
Creating a new Connection
To create a Connection, you need to select a data provider, configure its settings, and then either create a new destination or select an existing one.
Go to the Connections section in the top navigation bar and click Create Connection.
Selecting a Data Provider
In the list of available options, you can either use the search bar or scroll down to find the technology you use for conservation.
Select Next to continue.
Configuring the Data Provider
Gundi will present a list of required (marked with asterisks) and optional configuration parameters. Please refer to the right side of your screen for any available documentation to help you configure this integration.
You'll also be prompted to select an Organization and a Connection Name. The Organization defines the ownership of the Connection, while the Connection Name helps you identify your integrations.
