Data Output

EarthRanger offers several data export options to help you manage and analyze your field data effectively. These features provide flexibility and control over your data, ensuring you have the information needed for informed decision-making. Below, we’ll explore the various data export options available:

Field Events

The Field Events export option allows you to keep track of the events and incidents recorded in EarthRanger. This feature exports a CSV file of the events currently filtered in the Events Feed.

To export your Field Events:

  1. Apply Filters: Use the filter options in the Events Feed to narrow down the data. By default, the filter is set to display events from the last 30 days, but you can adjust this to suit your needs.
  2. Select Export Option: Once you’ve applied the desired filters, select "Field Events" from the menu.
  3. Generate and Download: Click "Export" to generate a CSV file containing all the relevant data based on your filters. The file will be downloaded to your computer.

This process helps you track progress, identify trends and patterns in your field data, and generate comprehensive reports.

Subject KML

The Subject KML export option creates a Keyhole Markup Language (KML) file containing geographic data for the subjects in EarthRanger. This KML file includes a network link, which allows the file to dynamically reference and update data directly from EarthRanger.

A network link in a KML file is a reference to data hosted on a remote server, in this case, EarthRanger. When you open the KML file in a compatible mapping application, such as Google Earth Pro, the network link fetches the latest data from EarthRanger. This ensures that your geographic data is always up-to-date without needing to repeatedly export new files.

To export a Subject KML:

  1. Navigate to Data Set: Go to the data set you wish to export.
  2. Select KML Export: Choose the "Subject KML" export option and the date range.
  3. Generate File: The system will create a KMZ file with a network link that will be downloaded to your computer’s directory.

Using the Subject KML file, you can visualize the movement and locations of subjects on a map, providing a spatial perspective of your data. This is useful for geographic visualization and integrating EarthRanger data with other GIS tools and applications.

Subject Summary

Managing your site’s devices and the subjects to which they are assigned is made easy with the Subject Summary export option. By exporting a CSV file detailing this information, you can:

  • Maintain accurate records: Keep an up-to-date inventory of all devices and their assigned subjects.
  • Analyze subject data: Review detailed information about each subject, including device assignments, to improve management and deployment strategies.
  • Generate subject reports: Create detailed reports that include comprehensive subject information.

To export Subject Summary, simply access the Menu in EarthRanger and select Subject Summary. This will generate a detailed spreadsheet with all the necessary information.

Observations

The Observations export option is designed to help you track and analyze the observations generated by your subjects. By exporting a spreadsheet of these observations, you can:

  • Review subject activity: Get a detailed account of the observations made by each subject.
  • Identify patterns: Analyze the data to identify trends and patterns in subject behavior.
  • Support research and reporting: Use the exported data to support research initiatives or to generate reports.

Exporting Subject Reports and Observations is simple. Navigate to the Menu, apply any necessary filters, and select the export option to generate your spreadsheet.
