Patrol Types and Permissions

To set up patrols and personalized patrol types, configure the settings in the Admin interface. For assistance, contact the EarthRanger Support Team.

 

Patrol Types

 

  1. Navigate to the Activity section on the Admin main page.
  2. Click on Patrol Types to display all current patrol types.
  3. The patrol types will be listed in a table, showing:
    • Display Name
    • Value
    • Order
    • Icon
    • Active Status (indicated by a checkmark; if checked, the patrol type will appear on EarthRanger)

Creating a New Patrol Type

  1. Click Add Patrol Type at the top of the list to create a new patrol type.
  2. Complete the following fields:
    • Value: Enter a lowercase, space-free identifier for the patrol type.
    • Display: Provide the display name for the patrol type, which will be visible and searchable on your EarthRanger site.
    • Ordernum: Specify the display order of the patrol types on EarthRanger. If left blank, the system will assign the order automatically.
    • Icon: Choose an icon from the pre-made list or request a specific icon from the EarthRanger Support Team.
    • Default Priority: Set a default priority for patrols under this type; this can be manually adjusted later.

Is Active: Check this box to make the patrol type visible on your EarthRanger site.

 

Patrol Permissions

  1. Configure user permissions for patrol functionalities via the Admin page.
  2. Go to User Accounts and select Permissions Sets to create and edit all site permissions.
  3. Use the top search bar to find "Patrols" and view the configured patrol permissions.
  4. By default, two main permissions are set for users:
    • Full Patrols Permissions
    • Patrols Permissions No Delete
  5. You can create additional, granular permissions as needed.

 

 

Full Patrols Permissions allows you to: 

Add Patrol

Add Patrol Type

Change Patrol

Change Patrol Type

Delete Patrol 

Delete Patrol Type

View Patrol

View Patrol Type 

 

Make sure the users you would like to be able to Add Patrol Types and Patrols are added to this permissions set. 

 

Patrols Permissions - No Delete  allows you to: 

Add Patrol

Change Patrol

View Patrol 

 

Make sure that the users that will be tracking and creating Patrols have the necessary permissions for the usage on EarthRanger Web and EarthRanger Mobile.
