Set Up a Default Patrol Configuration in EarthRanger Admin

The Default Patrol Configuration controls which Subjects appear in the Tracked By list when a Patrol is started on EarthRanger. Setting this up correctly ensures that the right Subject Groups are available for selection during Patrol creation.

This configuration is completed in EarthRanger Admin and requires Admin credentials. Subject Groups must be created before completing this setup. 

Before You Start

Make sure the following are ready:

  • You have Admin access to the EarthRanger Admin site for the target deployment. See Logging in to an EarthRanger Admin Site.
  • The Subject Groups you want to display in the Tracked By list are already created. If they are not set up yet, create them first before continuing.

Create a Default Patrol Configuration

  1. Log in to EarthRanger Admin for the site you are configuring.
  2. Navigate to: Activity > Patrol Configurations.
  3. Click Add Default Patrol Configuration in the top right corner.
  4. Fill in the following fields:
    1. DAS Tenant
      1. In the DAS Tenant field, select the site you are configuring this for.
        Note: Make sure you select the correct tenant. Each site requires its own Default Patrol Configuration.
    2. Name
      1. In the Name field, enter a name for this configuration.
        Use a clear, recognizable name such as: Default Patrol Configuration.
    3. Subject Groups
      1. In the Subject Groups field, select the Subject Groups whose members should appear in the Tracked By list on EarthRanger.
      2. You can select one or more Subject Groups.
      3. Only Subject Groups that have already been created will appear in this list.
      4. The Subjects within the selected groups will be available to rangers when they start a patrol.
  5. Click Save.

EarthRanger confirms the configuration has been saved. The Tracked By list on EarthRanger will now display the Subjects belonging to the selected Subject Groups.

 

What Happens Next

Once the Default Patrol Configuration is saved, EarthRanger will display the configured Subjects in the Tracked By dropdown when starting a new patrol. If the list appears empty or does not reflect the expected Subjects, verify that:

  • The Subject Groups selected contain active Subjects.
  • The correct DAS Tenant was selected for this site.
  • The configuration was saved successfully.
