Choice Lists are used to add selectable list inputs (e.g. in a Dropdown) to EarthRanger Event Types.
These lists help standardize inputs and support structured reporting across the EarthRanger platform.

How to Add Choices to a Field
When you configure a Choice List field, you can select options using one of three sources — all of which pull data from EarthRanger's backend systems:

1. Existing Choice List
These are predefined lists created and managed via the EarthRanger Admin page (admin/choices/choice/).
Examples:
- Species categories
- Incident types
- Equipment status
These lists are reusable across multiple Event Types.
For more info on how to create and manage these, visit the EarthRanger Support Center guide on Choices.
2. My Data
This dynamic option pulls from existing data within your EarthRanger instance, including:
- Subjects from Subject Group
- Subjects from Subject Sub-Type
- Users
3. Create New Choice List
This option opens a link to the EarthRanger Admin interface where new choice lists can be created.
