Upgrading your Event Types from V1 to V2 lets you take full advantage of the Event Form Editor, including drag-and-drop editing, conditional display of sections, and boolean field options. Use the migration tool to review and selectively upgrade your existing Event Types at your own pace.
Note: Upgrades are permanent and cannot be reversed. Your existing event data will remain unchanged.
Before you begin
- Only site administrators can access the migration tool.
- Review the Event Form Editor documentation to understand what changes with V2 Event Types.
Step 1: Open the migration tool
- Navigate to Event Types and Categories 2.0 (Beta) in admin page
- At the top of the page, you'll see a banner with an overview of the upgrade and a count of how many v1 Event Types remain.
- Click Get Started to open the migration tool.
Step 2: Review your Event Types
The tool organizes your Event Types into three categories:
Ready to Upgrade
These Event Types have no compatibility issues and are ready to migrate. The list displays each Event Type name and shows how many are available to upgrade. Select or deselect individual Event Types using the checkboxes.
Review Required
These Event Types have minor compatibility issues that will be automatically resolved during the upgrade. To understand what may be affected:
- Click View Warnings next to any Event Type.
- Review the issue name and description of what will change or may be lost during migration.
You can still select these Event Types for upgrade.
Not Yet Supported
These Event Types cannot be upgraded to V2 at this time and will remain fully functional under V1.
- Click View Errors to see why a specific Event Type cannot be migrated.
Step 3: Run the upgrade
- Select the Event Types you want to upgrade.
- Click Upgrade to begin the process.
- Review the Upgrade Summary screen, which shows:
- Successfully Upgraded — Event Types that were migrated to V2.
- Any Event Types that encountered issues during migration.
- Click Done to close the summary.
Step 4: Verify the upgrade
To confirm the migration was successful, create a new event in the field using one of the upgraded Event Types. The updated form should reflect the V2 structure and any new fields or layout changes.
