The Navigation Bar at the bottom of the EarthRanger Mobile screen gives you quick access to all of the app's core views. It contains five icons: Map, Patrols, Events, Subjects, and Settings.
Map
This is the default view when opening EarthRanger Mobile. In the Map view, you can:
View your current GPS location
Create new Events directly on the map
Start or resume Patrols and Tracking
Enable and disable Map Layers and change Basemap layers
Use Zoom to Fit to adjust the map to display all visible events and subjects
Note: The Zoom to Fit feature respects any filters applied in the Events Dashboard and hides subjects whose visibility has been toggled off.
Patrols
The Patrols view is where you manage your patrol activity. Patrols are organized into three collapsible sections:
Active — shows any patrol currently in progress, including its type, status, elapsed time, and start time. If no patrol is running, a Start Patrol button appears here so you can begin one directly from this view.
Tracks — shows track sync status, including the number of items pending upload and the timestamp of the last successful sync.
Done — shows completed patrols, their sync status, patrol number, and the time they were synced.
You can search for a specific patrol using the search icon at the top right of the screen.
Events
The Events tab lets you manage and submit reports from the field. You can:
Create new Events
Access saved drafts
Filter Events by type or time
Search for existing events
View the sync status of submitted or pending Events
In the Settings view, you can adjust your preferences and app behavior for field use. This includes settings for language, syncing, tracking, and more. The Sync button is also located in Settings, allowing you to manually trigger a data sync at any time.
