Export Subject Track Data from the Admin Panel

This article guides you through exporting GPS track data for a subject from EarthRanger’s Admin interface. It also explains how to manually exclude erroneous or offset points before export.

Steps for Exporting Subject Track Data

  1. 1. Access the Admin Site
    Log in at: https://yourorganization.pamdas.org/admin
    Navigate to: Observations > Subjects
  2. 2. Open the Subject’s Profile
Select the subject whose track data you want to export (e.g., “MySubject”).
Scroll to the bottom of the subject’s profile page.
    Click:
“See more observations for this subject here”
to open the detailed Observations Table.
  3. 3. Filter the Observation Date Range
On the right side of the table, use the date/time filters to define the export window.
  4. 4. Select Observations to Export
Use the checkbox at the top-left of the table to select the observations you want.
If your filtered result contains more than 100 points, a banner will appear:
    “Select all XXX observations”
Click this link to select the full set.
  5. 5. Export the Data
    Open the Actions dropdown.
    Click Export Selected Data.
A .csv file will be downloaded with the following information:
    1. GPS coordinates
    2. Timestamps
    3. Subject metadata
    4. Additional sensor or weather data (if applicable)

Excluding Offset or Erroneous Points

If you need to exclude erroneous offset points from the subject’s track data, follow these steps:

To exclude incorrect GPS points (e.g., when a device temporarily reports an invalid location), follow these steps:

  1. 1. Identify the Problem Point on the Map
In the EarthRanger Web Map Interface, locate the subject.
Zoom in on the track and click the suspect GPS point.
Note the timestamp and coordinates shown in the popup.
  2. 2. Locate the Observation in the Admin Table
    Return to the Admin site.
    Navigate to Observations > Subjects.
Open the subject’s profile and click “See more observations…”
Use the timestamp and coordinates to find the offset entry in the table.
  3. 3. Mark as Excluded
Check the box next to the observation row.
In the Exclusion Flags column, tick:
    EXCLUDED_MANUALLY

Note: This process must be repeated for each offset track-timepoint, as the current system does not yet support a more dynamic selection method for excluding points.
