Prerequisites

SMART

  • List of SMART Connect queries to integrate.
  • SMART Connect Server URL.
  • SMART Connect Server username and password set up for this integration.

EarthRanger

  • Admin access to EarthRanger.
  • Create an event type for each SMART Connect query to be connected to EarthRanger
  • Create a special EarthRanger user  (e.g., smart_to_er) with 'Admin User Events' permission.
    • Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
  • Create a long-lived token for the special user.
    • Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
  • Create an Event Provider. Consult this guide:

Scope

Supported

When a query is linked to an EarthRanger Event Type, the results are transferred and stored in EarthRanger as Events. The attributes and details of these Events are determined by the data within the query results.

Supported query types include:

  • patrolobservation
  • patrolwaypoint
  • observationobservation
  • observationwaypoint
  • entityobservation
  • patrolquery

 

Notes:

Observations older than 30 days will not be processed.
The integration operates on a 30-minute cycle for collecting new SMART observations.

 
 

Not Supported

This integration does not support:

  • Movement data.
  • Deletes.
  • Updates.
  • Attachments.

Configure Gundi

Go to Gundi v1

Go to the Inbound Integrations and select Add Integration

Inbound Configuration

Name: Enter a suitable name (e.g., "Sitename - SMART to EarthRanger")

Owner:  Select the integration's owner

Type: SMART Connect Query

Provider Key:  Leave empty. It will automatically give it a name.

Default Device Group: Leave empty. Gundi will automatically create a default group.

Endpoint:  EarthRanger site URL (e.g., https://sandbox.pamdas.org/api/v1.0)

Token:  Use the token linked to the smart_to_er EarthRanger user.

Login/Password:  Leave empty

Next Steps

Once the configuration is complete, wait 30 minutes and perform the following actions in EarthRanger:

  1. Verify that the list of event sources accurately represents the available queries in the SMART Connect server.
  2. Map the relevant event sources with existing event types.
  3. Verify that the SMART observations are created as events in EarthRanger. Note that it may take up to 30 minutes for data to appear or for the schema to adjust. The integration operates on a 30-minute cycle for collecting new SMART observations.
