Safora's Fence Shield devices monitor electric fences: they measure fence voltage and their own battery level, and detect tampering. Through Gundi, Safora sends each device's readings to EarthRanger as observations (fence voltage in kV and battery state of charge in %) and raises events for low voltage, low battery and tamper detection.

Prerequisites
Safora
You will need:
- Fence Shield devices registered with Safora, and a contact at Safora (info@safora-tech.com) to complete the connection on their side.
Gundi
You will need:
- A Gundi account.
- A Route using the API provider, with EarthRanger as the destination (steps below).
EarthRanger
You will need:
- Administrator access to your EarthRanger site (live or sandbox), with permission to create users.
- A dedicated Safora user with the API permissions listed in the Safora wiki, and an access token for it.
- The three Safora event types and the "Fence monitors" subject group (below).

Configuration
1. EarthRanger account and permissions
1.1 Log in to EarthRanger as an admin (site.pamdas.org/admin).
1.2 Create a dedicated Safora user and give it the API permissions listed in the Safora wiki.
1.3 Generate an access token for that user. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
2. Create the Route in Gundi
2.1 Log in to Gundi and create a Route.
2.2 Choose the API provider.
2.3 Select your Workspace and enter a name for this Route (e.g., Safora - SiteName).
2.4 Click Add destination on the flow map and select your EarthRanger site. Please consult our guide.
2.5 Save the Route, then select the data provider node and copy the API key shown under Connect → API key. Also note the connection ID shown in the page URL.
3. Send the details to Safora
3.1 Email the Gundi API key, the connection ID and your EarthRanger instance name to info@safora-tech.com. Safora completes the connection on their side.
4. EarthRanger settings
4.1 Go to Activity → Event Types and add the three event types from the table above.
4.2 Create the Fence monitors subject group so the devices can be shown and managed together on the map.
4.3 Once data is flowing, open Source Providers, select the provider created for this integration, and configure the transformation rules for voltage and battery as described in the Safora wiki.
5. Verify
5.1 Check the Route's Activity Logs in Gundi and confirm the Fence Shield devices appear as subjects in EarthRanger.
