Prerequisites
OpenWeather
You will need:
- OpenWeatherMap account.
- OpenWeatherMap API key. Go to: https://home.openweathermap.org/api_keys
EarthRanger
To send event data to EarthRanger, you will need:
- A special EarthRanger user (e.g., “Gundi Service Account”) for this integration. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
- A long-lived token for authentication assigned to the user created in the previous step. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
Considerations
OpenWeather’s FAQ notes that new API keys may take a few hours before they become active.
Your API key will be activated automatically, up to 2 hours after your successful registration. We invite you to read the API documentation that explains how to use our APIs.

Configuration
GUIDES
I. Gundi Connection Settings
Login to Gundi.
Click on Create Connection.
Select OpenWeatherMap.
Select your Workspace.
Enter a name for this Connection (e.g., “Weather Station - AccountName”)
Configure your OpenWeatherMap API key.
Configure a latitude and longitude.
Configure a name for the Weather Stations - this is the name that will be shown as a Stationary Subject in EarthRanger's map.
Click Next.
Select a Destination. Please consult our guide.
II. EarthRanger Settings
The following configurations are optional:
1. Select the data you want to see in the map.
1.1. Log in to EarthRanger as an admin (site.pamdas.org/admin).
1.2. Go to Source Providers.
1.3. Select the Source Provider created for this integration (e.g., "gundi_openweather_UUID")
1.3. Click on Subject Details Configuration.
1.4. Configure the additional information you would like to see on the map.
2. Configure these Subjects as a “Weather Station”.
3. Assign your Subjects to a Subject Group.

Note on Latency
The time it takes for data to appear in your destination system depends on several factors, such as latency introduced by the source, network conditions, and intermediary systems. While these factors may vary, Gundi typically checks for available data at scheduled intervals (approximately every 10 minutes).
If data is not available in your system after this interval, please check the source of the data for its availability. If the issue persists, contact our Support team for assistance.
