AfriCam turns wildlife reports into shareable photo and video galleries. With this integration, Gundi watches your EarthRanger site for reports of a chosen type (for example Wildlife Sighting), sends each one to AfriCam, and adds a link to the resulting AfriCam gallery back onto the EarthRanger report. Rangers keep working in EarthRanger; the gallery is one click away.

Prerequisites

AfriCam

You will need:

  • An access key provided by the AfriCam team.

Gundi

You will need:

EarthRanger

You will need:

  • A service account and token for Gundi that can read and update reports. Please refer to EarthRanger's documentation or contact Support.
  • The report type(s) you want to send to AfriCam (by default, Wildlife Sighting).

Configuration

1. Create the Route in Gundi

1.1 Log in to Gundi and create a Route.
1.2 Select AfriCam as the provider.
1.3 Select your Workspace and enter a name for this Route (e.g., AfriCam - SiteName).
1.4 Click Add destination on the flow map and select your EarthRanger site. Please consult our guide. One AfriCam Route can serve several EarthRanger sites.

2. Configure the AfriCam settings

2.1 On the flow map, click the AfriCam node and open Process New Events.
2.2 Enter the access key from AfriCam.
2.3 List the report types to send (leave the default for Wildlife Sighting).
2.4 Leave the remaining fields at their defaults unless AfriCam tells you otherwise, then click Save. Gundi checks for new reports every minute.

3. Verify

3.1 Create or update a report of the chosen type in EarthRanger.
3.2 After a minute, open it again: it now includes an AfriCam gallery link.
3.3 The Route's Activity Logs in Gundi show each report that was forwarded.

Good to know: only reports of the configured types are sent, each report is sent once, and reports edited later are picked up again automatically.
